Southeastern dropped a Monday, April 22, home softball game to Payson, 7-5.

Payson went in order in the first inning. Southeastern failed to score in its first inning.

Bryn Buescher reached on a dropped third strike and would score three batters later on a Josie Fessler single for a 1-0 lead in the top of the second.

The Lady Suns got a Kenzie Griswold single to open the second inning. Zoey Griswold walked. Kayla Martin drew a walk to load the bases. Mattie Branchfield singled to second base to score Kenzie Griswold to tie the game 1-1. Zoey Griswold scored on a throwing error by the catcher for a 2-1 Lady Suns lead. Grace Arthur singled to right field, scoring Martin for a 3-1 lead. The Lady Suns failed to score the rest of the inning.

Ella Archer reached on an error by the center fielder to open the third inning. Libby Neisen courtesy ran for Archer. Grace Klitz reached on an error and advanced Neisen to second. Neisen scored on a double by Abby Hagerbaumer to cut the lead to 3-2. Ava Steffen ran for Hagerbaumer. Teagen Maas sacrificed to the pitcher scoring Klitz to tie the game at 3-3. Olivia Mock doubled to center to score Steffen for a 4-3 lead. Kenzie Griswold singled to open the home third inning. Kenzie stole second base. Zoey Griswold walked. Martin drew a walk to load the bases. Grace Arthur, with two outs, singled to score Kenzie Griswold for a 4-4 tie.

In the sixth inning, M Kirby walked for the Lady Indians and stole second. Archer reached on a dropped third strike and Kirby advanced to third. Archer stole second. Klitz singled to center, scoring Kirby for a 5-4 lead. Archer advanced to third. Neisen ran for Archer. She and Klitz both stole home for a 7-4 advantage.

In the home seventh inning. Kenzie Griswold tripled to left field to lead off. Branchfield plated her with a single to make the final score 7-5.

Hagerbaumer got the win, allowing five earned runs over seven innings. Gave up eight hits, struck out nine and walked eight Lady Suns. Kenzie Griswold took the loss, allowing seven runs (four earned), and 10 hits. She struck out 10 while walking three.

The Lady Suns are scheduled to play Western at home Wednesday, April 24, and at Payson Thursday, April 25.
