West Hancock hosted Pittsfield on Thursday, March 28, and dropped a 5-4 decision.

Jordyn Climer set Pittsfield down in order in the first inning. Kelsey Freesmeyer set West Hancock down in order in their first inning. Climer struck out swinging, Lakinn Larson lined out to shortstop and Lillie Woodworth struck out swinging.

Pittsfield’s second inning saw Torie Stambaugh single to center. Grace Henry popped into a double-play to center and Stambaugh was out at first failing to tag up. Kenley Gerard popped out to left field to end the inning. West Hancock went one-two-three in the second inning.

Taylor Pebbles flew out to center to open the third inning for the Lady Saukees. Emma Wombles singled to center field. Deeghan Allen struck out swinging for the second out. Rebecca Neupauer tripled, scoring Wombles for a 1-0 lead. Neupauer scored Pittsfield’s second run on a passed ball. Freesmeyer flew out in foul territory to Woodworth at third base for the third out. Isabel Brown struck out swinging. Aubree Karle grounded out to second and Jaiyden Huston popped out to shortstop in the Lady Titans’ third inning.

The Lady Saukees went in order in the top of the fourth inning. Jordyn Climer doubled to left field to open the home fourth. Larson doubled on a pop fly to shortstop, Climer held at third. Woodworth popped out to center field for the first out. Camie Montgomery got a bunt single to the pitcher to load the bases. Bailie Montgomery singled to the pitcher. Climer scored to make it 2-1. Jadyn Climer struck out swinging and Brown popped out to the pitcher to end the inning.

Climer struck out Pebbles swinging and Wombles looking to open the fifth inning. Allen hit a pop fly and reached on an error. Allen stole second. Neupauer hit an inside-the-park home run on a line drive to right field, scoring Allen and herself for a 4-1 advantage. Lila Simon flew out to shortstop to end the inning. Karle opened the home fifth by striking out swinging. Huston singled on a ground ball to left field. Jordyn Climer lined out to center field for the second out. Huston stole second base. Larson singled to center, scoring Huston to the cut the lead to 4-2. Woodworth bunted out to the pitcher to end the inning.

Freesmeyer popped out and Stambaugh grounded out to the pitcher to start the sixth inning. Henry doubled to center field. Courtesy runner J McClintock came in for Henry. Gerard singled to second base and McClintock crossed the plate on an error by the second baseman to up the score to 5-2. Pebbles was out on a foul tip to end the inning. The Lady Titans’ sixth opened with Camie Montgomery flying out to center field. Bailie Montgomery walked. Jordyn Climer sacrificed to the pitcher. Montgomery advanced to third on a passed ball. Brown singled to left field, scoring Montgomery. Karle followed with a single to center. Huston grounded out to second to end the inning.

In the seventh inning for the Lady Saukees. Neupauer doubled to center for their only hit. The Lady Titans got a single from Jordyn Climer to start the seventh inning. Larson singled to center. Climer advanced to third on the throw. Woodworth grounded into a fielder’s choice and Climer scored to make it 5-4 and Larson was out at third. Camie Montgomery grounded into a fielder’s choice at shortstop and Woodworth was out advancing to second. Bailie Montgomery flew to second base to end the game and give the Lady Saukees the 5-4 road victory to even their record at 2-2. The loss was the first for the Lady Titans who are now 3-1 on the season.

Freesmeyer got the victory, allowing 12 hits and four runs over seven innings. She struck out seven and walked one. Climer took the loss, going seven innings and allowing five runs (just one earned) on seven hits. She struck out six and walked one. Larson was the top hitter for the Lady Titans going 3-4 with a run batted in. Jordyn Climer and Camie Montgomery also went 2-4 for the day.

Neupauer was the Lady Saukees’ top hitter going 3-4 at the plate.
